Okay so here I am wanting to spell scavenger; scavanger.
Soooooo I checked an American, a Canadian and a British dictionary and they all want an 'e' in there. Yet me and a number of other people (based on Google research*) can't spell.** *Super scientific! **I mean I know people can't spell but we're misspelling it consistently identically.  The Answer: Conspiracy? Collective hysteria? Stupidity?  In any event did you know that a street cleaner is a scavenger? Oh dear lord, another idiot.
I wouldn't put it past all those pains who wrote those things to decide to throw us all off and spell something differently than it is pronounced. -__-
I bet its more a "Ha ha, joke's on you, dumbarse" sort of thing.
Spelling is particularly difficult when you read across country lines.
